  1. "Lisa J Comstock writes an adventure that you have to hold onto your seats during. You ride a roller coaster of emotions when you are engulfed inside these pages, which by the way drew me in since the first paragraph. The book whisks you into a world of a space pirate; you cheer when the typical bad guy wins and cry when he loses.

I loved the BrimTier Chronicles, Life of a BrimTier Pirate. The characters are believable and engaging. I could see this being a television series one day with a following as big as Star Treks. I cannot wait to find out what the next book has in store for the world in the big black!"

  3. I liked the character development but thought it needed a little more description on ships. Looking forward to part 2.

  7. I think it was some time last year I went to a festival in Springfield, Vermont and I saw a book signing going on. I love books, and I had never had one signed by the author before. I observed that the woman sitting behind the display table had quite a set up going on. So I went over and inquired about the book, The Life of a BrimTier Pirate. Lisa Comstock, the author of course, told me that the story was based as a space sci-fi that she hoped would turn into a ten part story (at least, I THINK she said ten part. I remember thinking that's alot of sequels anyway). I immediately thought to myself, "oh, just another star wars look alike". But despite this thought, I bought the book and decided to give it a try. If Lisa planned for a ten part series, then had I figured she must have good reason to base it on. I began reading that night, and I realized it was NOT a star wars look alike, rather I thought it was something better. I must admit, when I first encountered the change in adventures I thought the idea was too choppy. I'm one who likes things, such as movies or books, to have a long flowing story. I thought Lisa had goofed. But then I realized that Lisa had not messed up, for if she had written a prolonged same-stuff story it would have been exactly like star wars...and something like old gum. After a while, it gets old. I thought "This story is not like a movie, but like a television series, something fresh with every twist". In this way, Lisa Comstock inevitably allowed room for her characters to grow and become liked...or disliked or whatever. My biggest praise for the book is the orginality of the whole "BrimTier" idea and how real the book makes planetary colonization seem. It makes the outer reaches of space as easy to mentally map as your own city. Oh, and I loved the disease carrying spiders! That was pretty creepy, actually :) Now, my biggest criticism is the, I think, excess of swearing. We all know what the swears are, we've all heard them but I felt that the language was stuck in there just to make it seem edgier, not because situation always called for it. Next (and this is probably not a very good piece of criticism, but I'll mention it anyway) I DON'T like the idea of Iain Bryce's hair being "flowing gold" or whatever. I can't picture someone like that being a pirate (orlando bloom don't count). Despite the hair, I loved the book :) and I've been trying to keep tabs on the series so I know when to grab the second book, because I really want to know what comes next for the "Robin Hood Pirate" (I like that, has a nice ring to it).

  8. In response to anonymous post of Sept. 5th - thanks for the kind words. I will be at the Apple Festival in Springfield, VT again this year - Oct. 10th & 11th 2009.

As for your criticisms: It is the female doctor- named Robyn - that has flowing golden blonde hair - the captain has blondish brown wavy hair that is usually in dire need of a combing so I wouldn't consider it flowing and part of his character is that he isn't your typical pirate captain :)

  9. My wife bought me your first book and you signed it for me. I have read the whole book already and would like to read the second one. You really have a great imagination. The book was REALLY GOOD.

  10. Lisa writes so well that I had a vision of what each character looked like as I was reading the first two books. Now I look at the web site and each character that I looked at looks just like I pictured them!
